Easter Sound-day – a sonic treasure hunt for spring

“Turn on your GPS, put on your headphones, and head out to find three hidden sounds of spring. When you’ve found all three, list them in a text to me for a prize.”

During Easter 2020 Ireland was in strict lockdown. I felt like doing something special for families around the village, so I created a sonic egg hunt, with clues in rhyming verse and a bit of mythology thrown in too.

The end of Lent normally means the breaking of a fast – but it felt like everyone was still fasting, missing that nourishment of social life. I wanted to create something that didn’t ignore that strange feeling, but which also celebrated the time of year with something playful and novel.
