Soundscape for Medal-winning ‘Relearning Nature’ Garden at Bloom

Our local outdoor education centre, Petersburg OETC, created an incredible native Irish garden for the Bord Bia Bloom festival, to promote their National Apprenticeship in Arboriculture.

The 3x3-metre garden was designed and built by horticulturalist Aaron Toomey, who envisioned it as a kind of miniature of the local woodland – and I reckon he did a brilliant job. [Photo: Aaron Toomey]

I was really delighted to provide an authentic soundtrack of early-morning birdsong and babbling water for the garden, specially recorded in Clonbur Woods, which plays from speakers hidden in the undergrowth.

In the festival competition, the garden was awarded a Silver-Gilt medal, which is like halfway between silver and gold!

Well done to everyone involved in this great little garden.
